Introduction

Women, Peace, and Security

Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) is a crucial topic that focuses on the unique experiences and perspectives of women in conflict-affected areas.

Overview:

The Women, Peace, and Security agenda was established by the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 (UNSCR 1325) in 2000. The resolution recognizes the importance of women's participation in peacebuilding and conflict resolution, and highlights the need to address the disproportionate impact of conflict on women and girls.

Key Principles:

Womens Participation: Women should be involved in all stages of peace proceses, from conflict prevention to post-conflict reconstruction.

Protection: Women and girls should be protected from violence, inlcuding sexual and gender-based violence, in conflict-affected areas.

Prevention: Efforts should be made to prevent conflict and promote peace, with a focus on addressing the root causes of conflict.

Relief and Recovery: Women and girls should have access to humanitarian assistance and be involved in post-conflict reconstruction efforts.
