Although our travel plans continue to be put on hold, let’s take a journey around the world with this month’s movie recs. Some of which follows the stories of men and magicians, catching the perfect wave, and a man with a “special need.” All of these movies are available to stream from Kanopy.

Follow ex-samurai, Jin Sakai, in this third-person, open-world, stealth-based game as he tries to take back his kingdom from the mongol invaders. If you like action-packed storyline-driven games then you’re sure to enjoy Ghost of Tsushima. One of the most anticipated games of twenty-twenty Ghost of Tsushima not only delivers in gameplay but in its animation as well. This title was awarded best art direction during the twenty-twenty Game Awards, which recognizes titles for their “outstanding, creative or technical achievement in artistic design and animation.” – The Game Awards

In the latest installment of the Spider-man video games, follow Miles Morales as he takes on the responsibility of being a new Spider-Man. Play as Miles as you sling through New York City fighting crime and adjusting to his new life.

Super Mario Party

Our list of recommendations wouldn’t be complete without Super Mario! Now available on the Nintendo Switch, Super Mario Party is perfect for the whole family! Get a team together and face off in various mini-games that will keep you busy for hours. Our favorite mini-game has to be bumper brawl. If you can avoid being knocked out of bounds by your opponents then you’ll take home the prize.

Animal Crossing

Escape from reality by building your very own island vacation getaway! Players can fully customize the look of their island from landscaping to residential development. We love Animal Crossing New Horizons because it brings out the inner artist in all of us. Take a look at some of the AMAZING things you can create on your very own island.

With over eighty awards there’s no wondering why Control has been one of the most popular games of twenty-nineteen. This third-person action-adventure thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat. Play as Jesse Faden to figure out the entity that has invaded the Federal Bureau of Control.  Fight your way through the bureau to uncover the secrets hidden within.

Book Riot's Read Harder Challenge 2021

Whether you’re an avid book reader or just looking for more ideas on what to read, you’ll enjoy Book Riot’s Read Harder Challenge 2021. The Book Riot challenge suggests “tasks” or types of books to read to help get you out of your literary bubble. There are twenty-four tasks in total (averaging two per month) and even come with suggested titles. Some tasks include a book you’re intimidated by, a book with a cover you don’t like, a non-European novel in translation, and much more. Find something you like? Search for the title in the online catalog and reading apps to check our availability.

A Community

Book Riot even provides challengers the opportunity to connect. Find other challengers through their Read Harder Challenge Goodreads group. Don’t have an account? No problem! Registration for Goodreads is FREE.  Through this online community, you’ll be able to discuss the challenge and find more books to complete each of the tasks. Book Riot even provides you with a fillable PDF doc to keep track of your progress.
